Content

The idea of the conference is to bring together keynote speakers who are ‘at home’ in ‘Early Modern History, Culture, Literature, Philosophy in Central Europe’ and young academics from Central Europe (and surroundings) who are (starting to) work(ing) on different themes from this broad scientific field.
Possible topics can be:
- printers, booksellers, publishers
- readers and reading
- censorship
- privileges before copyright
- book illustration
- philosophical ideas
- periodicals and the dissemination of ideas
- scholarly publishing
- history of universities
- religious matters in print
- early prints of vernacular texts
- mapmaking
- translation
- geography of the book
- geography of philosophy
- geography of science

There is of course also space to add more topics:

Organisation

The main idea of bringing together eminent scholars and young researchers (preparing their PhD thesis’s or habilitations) from Central Europe and neighbouring countries is to create an opportunity for discussing the topics of  owns and others scientific interest in the field of the early modern culture of Central Europe between the late Middle Ages and the beginning Modern Times. Wrocław is a magnificent place for this exchange of learning in keynote lectures and presentations of the participants (during parallel sessions where pre-papers of young academics, known before via dropbox, will be presented, followed by discussions about the topic).

Call for Papers

A Call for Papers will be prepared and distributed to possibly interested scientific centres and persons. The organisers of the conference would be very grateful for a broader  dissemination of the information about the conference among other colleague’s.

Funding

The participation costs of the keynote speakers as well as of the participants will be covered by the Academia Europaea (sponsored by a commercial institution).
